Kates profile:
Kate has worked within the fitness industry for eight years specialising in teaching exercise classes, pilates classes, sports massage, and personal training. She is currently a successful personal trainer at a premier health club. Whilst working within the fitness profession Kate has trained in various associated areas and was also keen runner. Unfortunately an injury meant she had to have time out of training but with the help of physiotherapy and pilates she made a full recovery. This ignited her interest in the rehabilitative field of physiotherapy and she then took a degree course qualifying in 1996. This means that Kate has a number of strings to her bow which she integrates into her health professional practice.
She is now currently working at Kenwood Park Clinic as a Physiotherapist where she also carries out remedial, sports and therapeutic massage and one to one (or two!) pilates. Combining deep tissue massage, manual therapt techniques and Pilates provides the perfect environment to reduce stiffness, improve stability and re-align the body, helping prevent further damage or injury and staving off aches and pains. Kate is a member of the Chartered society of physiotherapy (CSP) and of the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) which both require high standards of practice and continual professional development. She is also registered with the Health Professions Council. She has worked with Sheffield United academy teaching pilates and swiss ball techniques and Eagles Rugby League.
Kate also runs pilates classes and fitness training sessions at the new Physique Fitness Studio, within Serenity Spa just a few doors along from the clinic. After an introduction to pilates or for those familiar with the technique sustained benefits can be achieved within a less formal class setting. The range of pilates offered includes
- Private tuition 1-2-1 for more specialist needs recovering from injury - clinical assessments, postural / lifestyle assessments, or preferred personal setting.
- Small mat work group sessions 4 – 12 people
- Classes designed for all
- Equipment used including stability ball
- Home programmes
